We thank you... always! Over the past five decades, Sterling Farms has evolved into one of the premiere golf destinations anywhere in the region. We continually strive to maintain, if not exceed that distinction, and know we owe it all to our Stamford families, friends and neighbors, as well patrons, like you, from everywhere. WELCOME This is the best time of the year to play our spectacular 18 hole championship golf course. Our Golf Course Superintendent, Mike Golden, and his whole team, are leaders in the world of green- keeping, and we are very proud of the quality of their hard work. I think you'll find our putting greens, fairways, tees, roughs, and every landscape feature here reflects their devotion and hard work. It is spectacular. Sterling Farms is home to the area's top driving range facility. You won't find a better value, or level of quality, anywhere! Our 44 bays are lighted, and operate 365 days a year. Here you'll find we have a fine staff of PGA Professional Golf Instructors led by CSGA Hall of Famer and PGA Director of Golf Angela Aulenti. Angela's uncompromising focus on the customer's total satisfaction is the common thread that runs through every aspect of our golf operation, including our Golf Pro Shop, where you'll find fine golf apparel, shoes, bags, and just about every- thing else you could possibly want, all in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Our customers deserve only the very best! We take great pride and joy serving you, and our local com- munity. On behalf of all of us here at Sterling Farms, welcome and thank you! Paul Grillo, Executive Director Paul Grillo8 STERLING FARMS GOLFER | JULY 2019 S terling Farms Golfer is a scrapbook... a snapshot in time... with only the best intents. Its aim is to capture a few of the golfers, the employees, and the sights at Sterling Farms on any given day... just a few indelible memories saved for posterity. The Summer of 2019 is in full swing, and Sterling Farms is jamming! The free Shake- speare on the Green, the minty fairways and greens, the views from the balcony at Zody's, the tennis... all spectacular. If it has eluded you, try to get out here soon. It's a fabulous summer, and the place is gorgeous! July through September will be hot... searing hot! Your golf ball is going to find itself in places you've never imagined, and while now is the time to score, our midseaon form may elude. Thankfully, there is help, and you'll find it on page 30. The conditions at Sterling Farms are superb, and it's all by design: the crew, led by Golf Course Superintendent Michael Golden, is tops. Michael, who plays to a 4 handicap, is just like us: He's got to 'finish the hole,' and every time we play this golf course, we judge him by U.S. Open standards.... Am I right? Over the next few months, Sterling Farms Golf Course will get a lot of play in high arid heat. Now is the time for all good golfers (us) to come to the aid of the best public golf course around! Show the golfer next to you how much better you are by leading by example. Be just a little better than them, and see how con- tagious it is, and how much better your future putts will roll. Your exemplar can make a tremendous difference on others. The replac- ing (or filling in) of the divots we make, and a few more we see, as well as the fixing of two ball marks for every one we make... will also garner the attention of the Golf Gods! Trust that they will reward you for your heroism.... You may see me out there with my camera. If you do, say 'hi'. I'd love to give you your 10 seconds of fame! If you fix two ball marks, and fill three divots, I might even make it :15!
